Oil-to-Gas Conversion and Tank Removal

A gas conversion changes the home’s heating system, but it does not automatically resolve the old oil tank. Plan the tank question alongside the HVAC work so timing, access and documentation are clear.

Sequence the contractors

Confirm when the old tank is taken out of service, when the new equipment is installed and how the home remains safely heated during the transition. Separate contractors need a shared plan.

Close the record, not just the fuel line

Retain the tank removal or closure documents with the new HVAC invoice. Future buyers will ask about the former tank even if the home now runs on gas.
